Goat Meat Facts: 

About 75 percent of the world’s population eats goat meat, a fact that surprises most beef-chicken-pork-eating Americans. Even though demand for goat meat has risen sharply in the US, thanks to a growing immigrant population, it's a bit baffling why Americans don't eat more goat. It's affordable, tastes like lamb, it's 50% lower in fat than beef and 40% lower in fat than chicken...what's not to love? 

Perhaps it's the name "goat"? Would you buy goat meat if it was called Caribbean Lamb?

To help promote goat  meat in the States, Heritage Foods USA started the No Goat Left Behind program, culminating in the first annual Goatober in October 2013. The organization connected dairy goat farmers with extra kids and restaurants who wanted to try the meat. The result was a small but stable boost to the goat meat industry in the U.S.
